Police were called by the ambulance service at 8.30pm on 28 December following the discovery in Walsall Street, Willenhall. The 56-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene and a post-mortem will take place on 30 December.

West Midlands Police Detective Inspector Jim Munro said: "The body was discovered at 8.30pm following a call from a member of the public but we believe the man may have been dead for several hours.

"We've already spoken to many residents in Walsall Street but if anyone was in the area on Monday evening, and have not yet spoken to police, then I'd ask them to call me as soon as possible. It may be they saw or heard something suspicious, perhaps a disturbance or people leaving the scene, that could be important to the investigation."
