Oscar Pistorius will be sentenced for killing Reeva Steenkamp at a hearing in Pretoria next month.

The date of the sentencing has been set for 13 October, following discussion in court.

Trial watchers have predicted a jail sentence for Pistorius after judge Thokozile Masipa found him guilty of culpable homicide.

It means the coming four weeks may be Pistorius' final days of freedom for the next 15 years - which is how long he could be jailed for killing Steenkamp.

The 27-year-old was also convicted of a firearms charge relating to an incident in a Johannesburg restaurant in early 2013.

Pistorius was granted bail in the same hearing as the sentencing date was announced. Judge Masipa rejected calls for bail to be denied on the grounds he might kill himself or flee South Africa.
