With the third instalment of the xXx franchise, Diesel makes a comeback from his self-imposed exile as the athlete-turned-government-operative Xander Cage armed with a mission this time.

His lead character was further teased in a brand new poster that surfaced online featuring the 49-year-old actor atop a racer bike while riding on waves.

Interestingly, the new images allude to the old spy movie-styled posters with a retro hangover, especially because of the hand-painted essence of the pictures. Additionally, each poster reveals a specific characteristic about every character in the thriller. For instance, former vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev, who plays Becky in the film, is featured as the tech-savvy part of the cohort, while Padukone rules the trigger true to her character of Serena Unger.

In the movie, Diesel will return as part of a crew, whose sole aim is to take down the deadly warrior Xiang Yen (played by Donnie Yen) and his henchmen. "We need people with the skills, and the attitude to take on threats that we don't even know exists," says one of the recruiters shedding light on the nature of the gang in a teaser for the action movie.

Ruby Rose, Donnie Yen, Samuel L Jackson, Toni Collette, and Game Of Thrones' Rory McCann star alongside Diesel in the xXx movie, which is slated to hit theatres on 20 January 2017.
