Palestinian Hamas security forces have killed a supporter of Islamic State (Isis) after a shootout at his home in Gaza.

The 27-year-old militant, identified as Younis al-Honnor, was killed "during an attempt to arrest him", according to Hamas spokesman Eyad al-Bozum. He reportedly refused to surrender and Hamas forces opened fire in the house where he was hiding.

"[Honnor] had booby-trapped the house he was in. Explosive belts, explosive devices and rifle-propelled grenades were found inside," the spokesman said.

Local residents said Al-Honnor was an activist in a Salafist group. Hamas posted pictures of his weapons on social media:

IS has given Hamas a 48-hour ultimatum to end its current crackdown and free dozens of jihadists who have been rounded up in recent months.
