South African wicket-keeper batsman AB de Villiers decimated the West Indian bowling attack scoring the fastest ODI century in world cricket – 104 off just 31 deliveries.

De Villiers slammed Jason Holder for 23 runs in the 42nd over and reached the fastest half century off the fourth ball of the over. He has broken Sanath Jayasuriya's fastest-50 record by scoring his 50 runs in 16 deliveries.

He was finally dismissed on 149 off 44 balls.

The batsman joined teammate Hashim Amla, who was on 116, in the second ODI against the West Indies at Johannesburg. The Proteas ended their 50 overs scoring 439 for the loss of two wickets.

Last year, New Zealand batsman Corey Anderson scored the fastest century in ODIs against the same side, breaking the record of Pakistan's Shahid Afridi.
