Is Amanda Bynes Schizophrenic? Mother Officially Files For Temporary Conservatorship/Reuters

Amanda Bynes' mother, Lynn Bynes, has filed documents at the Ventura County Superior Courthouse in Oxnard, California, to become her temporary conservator. The petition will be heard on 26 July and it is believed the hearing will be closed to the public.

According to Radar Online, Bynes' father, Rick Bynes, was not part of the plea for conservatorship. The report says the actress' mother has hired Tamar Arminak and Patrick Reider as her attorneys.

The 27-year-old Bynes was placed in 5150 involuntary psychiatric hold [according to California state law, this allows authorities to detain people they feel might be a threat to themselves], after she started a fire in Thousand Oaks earlier this month. According to the Mail Online, an eye-witness, Andrew Liverpool, said "it sounded like her clothing had been sort of singed".

"She was laying down right here trying to roll or do something to take off the fire from her pants. Her pants were on fire. I see this girl with her pant leg on fire and a gas can trailing fire through the driveway," he explained.

Liverpool said he did not immediately recognise the victim as Amanda Bynes but admitted it looked and sounded like the actress.

"I quickly pull over to go help her and when I got over here, she put the fire out on her leg and was rushing over to her dog. I kicked the gas can over and moved it to the middle of the driveway so nothing else would catch on fire. And I said, 'Are you OK?'. She was kind of frantic and discombobulated, and many people rushed over to try to assess the situation and when I looked back up, she was gone," he continued.

The Ventura County Fire Department confirmed a call relating to a miscellaneous fire, in the same locality, at 8.30pm local time that night. However, they say the fire was extinguished by residents.

Troubled Times for Amanda Bynes

Meanwhile, Radar Online claims there has been contact between Bynes and Sam Lutfi, who was fellow singer Britney Spears' former manager. Lutfi is infamous for having a numbr of restraining orders filed against him, including one by Spears herself. It is believed he funded Bynes' return to Los Angeles from New York City.

"The two became friends in recent months. It's very concerning, given Sam's history with Britney Spears leading to her father, Jamie Spears, getting a conservatorship, and getting a restraining order preventing Lutfi from any contact," sources revealed.

To be fair, Bynes has done quite well getting into trouble all on her own. She had an eventful stay in New York, where she managed to get arrested for possesion of marijuana, sue the New York Police Department (NYPD) for sexual harassment and start Twitter wars with fellow celebrities.

"Amanda has heard voices for years, and was concerned she was being spied on via smoke alarms, and clocks in her home. She would cover electronic items because Amanda believed that was the only way she wouldn't be spied on. It's extremely sad situation because Amanda just refuses to get help," a source told Radar Online.
