Overview

Andy Murray has moved within one win of making it to the ATP World Tour Finals in London. The Scot entered the last 16 with a comfortable 6-3, 6-4 win against Julien Benneteau in his first match of the tournament and he needs to make it to the quarter finals to clinch his place in the season ending tournament.

The Scot faces Grigor Dimitrov, who is also in the running for a place in the top eight to make it to London next week. This is the third time Murray is facing the Bulgarian this season and he is yet to beat him. The latest loss coming in the quarter-finals of Wimbledon.

Meanwhile, Dimitrov came into the last 16 of the tournament following a commanding 6-0, 6-3 victory over Pablo Cuevas and will hope to continue his winning run against Murray. Despite Murray holding an advantage in the overall head-to-head, the Bulgarian has dominated the Scot this season.

Dimitrov is also in the running to finish in the top eight and qualify for the year end Tour Finals in London, but he has to make it to the finals of the BNP Paribas Masters to have any hope of qualifying. It looks unlikely that the Bulgarian No 1 will make it to London this time around.

The winner of this match could set up a mouth-watering clash against World No 1 Novak Djokovic, if the Serb can overcome Gael Montfils, who is his opponent in the pre-quarter finals.

Head-to-Head

Murray holds a 3-2 lead over Dimitrov in overall meetings. The pair have clashed in just one Masters Series event and the Scot came out victorious on that occasion.
