Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis has confirmed that the club have reach an agreement with Arsenal to bring Chuks Aneke back to the club on a six-month loan deal.

The 20 year old is viewed as one of the top prospects in Arsenal's academy and last season was twice loaned out to Crewe in order for him to gain regular first team football.

Aneke would make 38 appearances and score eight goals during his time at Gresty Road and was keen to return to the club in order to continue his development.

Having taken part in Arsenal's tour of Asia with the first team, there was a suggestion that he could remain in north London but it seems he will now have to impress manager Arsene Wenger while competing in League One.

"We have managed to reach an agreement with Arsenal over Chuks and we are going to sign him on a six-month loan until January," Davis told the club's official website.

"We know the talent he has and he will be a good addition to the squad. I initially saw the ability he had and asked the supporters to have patience with him. They did that and in the end we saw what a huge talent he is.

"Chuks is a very creative player, who can play that killer pass behind centre-halves and full-backs. He is a big, strong lad and has two great feet. We are absolutely delighted to have him back. He made his wish to come back here and we can only thank Arsenal for all their help."

Crewe will now have to wait to seek approval from the Premier League and the Football League before they can name Aneke in the squad for the club's first game of the season against Rotherham United on Saturday.
