Getafe midfielder Pablo Sarabia has admitted that Arsenal were keen to sign him in the past and he did not rule out a move to the Premier League in the future.

The Spanish midfielder came through the ranks at Real Madrid and was highly-rated in the youth level, but he failed to break into the first-team making just a single appearance before moving to Getafe in 2011.

The former Spanish U21 star has been quite impressive for Getafe this season and has made over 80 appearances for his current employers since his arrival from Santiago Bernabeu.

The report claims that he was linked with a move to Arsenal and has since admitted that the north London club did try and sign him in the past. And he has since made it clear that he is open to playing in the Premier League if the opportunity arises.

"Yes, it's true that Arsenal were interested in me. Manchester United? People said it ... I didn't ask my agent," Sarabia said, as quoted by Goal.

"I like the Premier League, it's an important league. I don't close the door to anything. Maybe it's a good competition for me and in the future I can play there," the Spanish midfielder added.

Meanwhile, Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has revealed that he is having a friendly competition with summer arrival Alexis Sanchez to see who finishes as the top scorer for the club at the end of the season.

The Chilean is the overall top scorer with 19 goals in all competitions, but is equal with the Frenchman in the Premier League with 13-goals apiece. Giroud is eager to finish as the top scorer and is currently the in-form forward having scored five goals in his last four games.

"Yeah, but it's a 'battle' in a nice and good spirit. I joke with Alexis about it in Spanish. We are in good form, all of us. I've scored 13 goals in the Premier League and so has Alexis, so we'll have a good fight until the end," Giroud told Arsenal's official site.
