Mt Etna, Europe's highest and most active volcano has erupted but the people of neighbouring Naples are carrying on as usual.
A spectacular display of flames, molten lava and plumes of smoke and ash have created spectacular views for Napolitans day and night.
Authorities closed Catania airport as a precaution to avoid any danger to flights due to the three-mile-high ash clouds.
