Android 4.0.4 XWLPX ICS firmware has been released for Galaxy S2. Androidromupdate

The Android 4.0.4 XWLPU Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) firmware for the international version of the Samsung Galaxy S2 (i9100) has been followed by the Android 4.0.4 XWLPX update. The Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) update is still awaited and similar updates for the Galaxy S2 are reportedly under development and expected sometime in Q4.

Meanwhile, follow instructions below to install the XWLPX software. IBTimes UK warns its readers the firmware and the instructions are meant only the Galaxy S2 i9100 and not any other variant. Ensure the USB drivers are installed and USB debugging mode is enabled. In addition the device should be factory unlocked and the battery fully charged.

Steps to Install Android 4.0.4 XWLPX for Galaxy S2 I9100

    • Turn Galaxy S2 off and place phone in Download Mode (to do so press and hold Volume Down, Home and Power buttons. When a warning screen appears press the Volume Up key to enter Download Mode)
    • Start Odin
    • Connect Galaxy S2 to computer using a USB cable, while the phone is in Download Mode
    • In Odin, select these files in the order mentioned
        • Click on PDA and select file CODE
        • Click on Phone and select file MODEM
        • Click on CSC and select file CSC
        • Click on PIT and select file .pit
        • Note: Ignore final three files if they do not exist
    • Start installation process through Odin; this could take a few minutes
    • Once installation is over the phone will reboot and you may disconnect device from computer after Samsung logo appears

Congratulations... the Samsung Galaxy S2 is now running Android 4.0.4 XWLPX ICS. You can verify the software version by navigating to Menu > Settings > About Phone.
