Adele
The new mother has become the victim of online trolls.

Pop star Adele has been targeted by trolls on Twitter following the birth of her son.

The Someone like You hitmaker, who welcomed her first child with fiancé Simon Konecki over the weekend, has been subjected to a slew of vile messages from online bullies.

While some trolls insulted the award-winning star's weight, others made jokes about post-natal depression and the death of her child.

A controversial user under the name Vanessa Bieber Wrote: "Aw Adele gave birth to a baby. Is it fat and handicapped lol? Just murder it already lol."

Another user tweeted: "Adele was pregnant? I thought she was fat."

The messages were among a string of cruel taunts that were retweeted hundreds of times.

The 24-year-old London-born singer is not the first star to be targeted by trolls on the microblogging site.

Gary Barlow and his wife Dawn were attacked by internet troll, Kenneth Tong, following the stillborn death of their baby daughter, Poppy.

Adele announced that she was expecting in June. She wrote on her official website: "I'm delighted to announce that Simon and I are expecting our first child together.

"Obviously we're over the moon and very excited but please respect our privacy at this precious time."

Although the new mum has yet to officially confirm the birth, sources close to the songstress said she was "ecstatic". Her spokesman said the proud parents were "not releasing a statement at this time."
