Root Galaxy Note 2 LTE N7105 on Official Jelly Bean Firmware with CF-Root [How to]

With the release of latest version of Jelly Bean-Android 4.2, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 LTE users will be looking to update their devices with the several custom firmwares featuring the Android 4.2. The device was first shipped with Android 4.1.1 (Jelly Bean) however the South Korean mobile manufacturer reportedly has plans to upgrade the device with Android 4.2.

It requires the users to root their device in order to install custom firmwares. Good news for the LTE Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (by model number-N7105) users is they can root their device running on Android 4.1.1 official firmware by following the tutorial below. It should be noted that the CF-Auto-Root package is used to root the LTE variant of Note 2.

IBTimes UK reminds its readers that it will not be held liable for any damage to the device while rooting. Before following the instructions the users are advised to ensure that their devices meet the below mentioned requirements.

Pre-requisite

1) Download USB Drivers for Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Enable the USB Debugging mode as well.

2) Create backup for all your important date before proceeding.

3) Ensure that the battery of your phone should carry above 80 per cent of charge.

4) Your device should be factory unlocked.

5) This root method and the root package are only compatible with Samsung Galaxy Note 2 LTE by model number N7105 therefore do not try this on any other variants.

6) Finally your Galaxy Note 2 should run on Android 4.1.1 official firmware.

Steps to root Galaxy Note 2 LTE N7105 on Android 4.1.1 official firmware

1) Download the root package for Galaxy Note 2 to your computer and extract the zip file

2) Download Odin v1.85 which will help to root Android 4.1.1 on Galaxy Note 2

3) Power off the device. Place it into Download Mode by pressing Volume Down, Home and Power buttons together until you get to see the construction Android robot and a triangle. Once again press the Power button to enter into Download Mode

4) Open Odin on your computer. Plug in the phone to the computer while it is in the Download Mode

5) Once the phone is connected to the computer successfully, you will see one of the ID: COM boxes turning yellow with the COM port number. This step might take some time

6) Click on PDA and select the file which you have extracted in the step 1, 'CF-Auto-Root-d2tmo-sght999.tar.md5'

7) In Odin click on the Start button to begin the installation process. The installation will take about a few minutes to complete

8) Once the installation is completed, your phone will reboot into Recovery Mode automatically and install the root package. The ID: COM box will then turn green

9) Once you get to see the home screen, you may safely unplug the phone from the computer

Note: If your device does not boot into Recovery Mode automatically and fail to install the root, then follow the procedure to root the once again from the beginning.

If still the device is not rooted, once again perform the entire tutorial. Ensure that in Odin, the Auto Reboot option is not checked. After the installation is over (step-8) follow the below mentioned steps,

a) Take out the battery to turn off the phone forcefully

b) Boot into Recovery Mode by turning on the phone while pressing Volume Up, Home and Power buttons together. This will result in starting the installation process to root the phone

Congratulations! Your Samsung Galaxy Note 2 LTE N7105 running on Android 4.1.1 official firmware is now rooted. You can verify with the SuperSU app in your app list. In addition you can also verify with the Root Checker to ensure that the root method has been installed and is working properly.
