Gangnam Style
Gangnam Style to end the world (Facebook/9Gag)

The world will end when the Gangnam Style YouTube video gets one billion hits, Nostradamus predicted 500 years ago.

The 16th-century French soothsayer said Doomsday would arrive when the "dancing horse" reaches "nine circles".

He wrote: "From the calm morning, the end will come. When of the dancing horse the number of circles will be nine."

Unfortunately, the "dancing horse" he refers to is none other than South Korean pop star Psy and the nine zeros represent the number of hits his music video gets.

This means that the Earth is just over 60 million views away from the End of Days - and the figure is shrinking quickly.

For people sceptical about Psy and his Gangnam Style doomsday, South Korea is also known as the Land of the Morning Calm - further evidence that Nostradamus's prediction will come true, say believers.

It appears that some fans of Psy want the world to end. One said: "Lets get this to 1 billion!"

Another wrote: "Waiting for the 9 circles :))))))" Their face may be less smiley when the apocalypse does arrive."

One believer, in a bid to save the world, urged people to stop watching the dance video: "Stop watching this video or we gonna die :'( Please."

Nostradamus has been right on a number of occasions, say his followers. He predicted the death of Henry II, the Great Fire of London, the French Revolution and the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Centre in New York.

If Gangnam Style reaches one billion hits before 21 December, a number of people will be very disappointed, as that is the date the world is supposed to end according to Mayan prophecy.
