Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp is keen to bolster his squad by signing Liverpool midfielder Joe Cole and former Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka in the January transfer window.

The Daily Mail has reported that Redknapp met with owner Tony Fernandes to discuss potential transfer targets and it is believed that he will have around £10million to spend in the New Year.

QPR picked up their first win of the season at the weekend but Redknapp is aware that he still has an almighty job on his hands to steer the club away from the relegation zone. After spending heavily during the summer it seems the former Spurs manager will not have the same backing but will hope to complete a number of loan deals.

Having struggled for goals all season it is no surprise that Redknapp is keen to add some extra firepower and Anelka could well be available. The French striker has reportedly agreed to forgo the final year of his contract at Shanghai Shenhua, said to be worth $7million, in order to become a free agent.

Anelka is has a wealth of experience in the Premier League, having played more than 350 league games in England, and could be targeted by more than one club if he becomes a free agent.

The Mail also believes that Redknapp will attempt to convince Cole to move back to London so that the pair can work together once again. The midfielder was given his start in football by Redknapp when starting his career at West Ham.

Cole has struggled to make an impact at Liverpool and, despite scoring against his former club West Ham, has failed to convince Brendan Rodgers that he is deserving of a regular place in the first team.

The 31-year-old may have struggled at Liverpool but he did impress during a season-long loan at Lille where he played some 32 games and scored four goals.
