Jack Butland's agent has claimed that Birmingham should lower their asking price for the Liverpool target if they hope to offload him by the end of the month, with the keeper looking likely to leave.

Butland has been touted for big things in front of the net, and the 19 year old has already made his first mention for the senior England side.

Liverpool have in particular been connected with the youngster, as the club look likely to lose Pepe Reina to Barcelona.

And Butland's agent Gary Mellor believes that the £5 million-rated starlet will likely leave the club for less before January 31st comes to a close.

"There's a lot of clubs interested but no one yet has matched Birmingham's valuation," he told Goal.com.

"I think it depends on who else they could sell really because if they are looking to solve all their financial woes with the Jack deal then it's going to be more difficult. But if they can sell someone else as well then maybe a number of clubs would be interested and that might make a difference.

Jack Butland
Jack Butland is hoping to secure a move away from Birmingham, his agent claims, even if the side have to cut his asking price.

"I don't really know what they want at the moment - they turned down £6m from Southampton but they will probably accept less now because obviously it's getting towards the end of the window and they need to get money in.

"There's nothing yet but we're trying to get something through before the end of the window. I am ringing around and we'll get something done."

Liverpool have been particularly busy in the January transfer window, already shoring up a deal for Daniel Sturridge early in the month. The side have been working to do a deal for Tom Ince, though disagreements with Blackpool over his price have led to a stalemate, and Brendan Rodgers is also looking at coming to an agreement with Inter Milan to take on Phillippe Coutinho.
