Game developers Ubisoft have reportedly invited media persons to a mysterious event that will focus on the Assassin's Creed series. The event, scheduled for 27 February, will be the second big meet of the month, following Sony's 20 February announcement, where the Japanese are expected to announce the PlayStation 4.

MCV Online, a Hertford-based video games' trade magazine, tweeted: "We've been invited to a mysterious Assasssin's Creed event on February 27. Anyone else going? Any idea what's planned?"

In fact, apart from MCV Online, few other media outlets have acknowledged an invitiation, although speculation of the meet has been reported by the Examiner and NeoSeeker.

We should warn readers, though, that Ubisoft have not made any official comments regarding the invitation or the meeting.

Meanwhile, speculation suggests the 27 February meeting could be to announce updates for the new Assassin's Creed game. Ubisoft have already announced this game - to be released sometime before 14 March - will have an "all new hero and all new time period".

Also, in other news related to Ubisoft, the company has announced that top games from leading publishers will now be available online, through the Uplay shop.

"Ubisoft is committed to continually improving Uplay and making it the most rewarding set of services available to our customers," said Stephanie Perotti, the worldwide director of Uplay at Ubisoft, "Adding excellent titles from EA, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and many other top developers to Uplay shop means that players now have more choice in where and how they purchase games online."

Also, Ubisoft have now launched the first episode of the eagerly anticipated The Tyranny of King Washington DLC for Assassin's Creed III. The first episode, titled The Infamy, is about how George Washington becomes hungry for power in this alternate-universe. The episode charts how Connor wakes up to find George Washington has crowned himself the king of the United States after forcing the British to leave.
