Galaxy Note 8.0 users who have already upgraded their devices to the latest official build and are currently looking for a root method, may follow our step-by-step guide. The tutorial uses CF-Auto-Root file released by recognised XDA developer, Chainfire. Head over to the development page to learn more about the root release.

IBTimes UK reminds its readers that it will not be held responsible for any damage to the device. Moreover, users are advised to verify that their tablets meet following requirements.

Pre-requisites

1) Install USB Driver for Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 to transfer files from the Android device to the computer.

2) Enable USB Debugging Mode on the tablet to connect it with the computer and use Android SDK with it. [Press Menu>> Settings>> Applications. From there navigate and click on Development option and ensure the USB Debugging Mode is turned on.]

3) As the tutorial is likely to wipe out all data of the tablet, create a backup. If the device is having any custom recoveries such as ClockworkMod/TWRP already installed then backup data using the recovery.

4) The Note should have above 80% battery charge.

5) The Note 8.0 should be factory unlocked and not locked to a particular carrier.

6) The device will lose manufacturer's warranty once it is rooted. However, users can claim the warranty back by unrooting the device later.

7) The CF-Auto-Root file works only on Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 N5100. Flashing this on any incorrect variant will brick the device. Therefore, verify the model number of the Galaxy Note 8.0 by navigating to Settings>> About tablet.

Step-3: Download Odin3 v3.07 and extract the zip file to get Odin3 v3.07.exe along with some other files

Step-4: Switch off the Galaxy Note and wait for about five to six seconds for the vibration to confirm complete switch off

When the tablet is connected successfully, the ID: COM box will turn yellow with the COM port number. Additionally, the successful connection will be indicated by a message saying Added in Odin.

If the Added message does not appear, then try another the USB port at the back of the computer. If that too does not work then re-install USB driver
