Samsung had earlier added the international version of Galaxy Beam in the list of next Galaxy devices to receive Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update. However, the manufacturer then failed to provide information of the particular date for update roll-out.

But it now appears that the Jelly Bean update for Galaxy Beam, currently running on Android Gingerbread, is on the way.

The Android 4.1.2, with build version XXAMF1, official test firmware has been leaked for Galaxy Beam bearing model number GT-I8530, claims a report by Sammobile.

The Jelly Bean update reportedly boosts the performance and improves battery life for the Galaxy Beam. Samsung is said to have started the first test with Android 4.1.2 for Galaxy Beam earlier in March this year.

As for the release, the company is expected to begin the official Jelly Bean roll-out sometime during the end of next month.

Featuring a 4in display, the Galaxy Beam sports a screen resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, giving it a pixel density of 233 pixels per inch (ppi). The device was first launched with Android Gingerbread software and features TouchWiz user interface v4.0.

The Galaxy Bean has a five megapixel rear camera and 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera. It is powered by a NovaThor U8500 chip featuring a dual-core Cortex-A9 processor clocked at 1GHz, and paired with Mali-400 graphics unit. The NovaThor chip also integrates 768MB of RAM. It runs with a 2,000mAh powered battery. The handset is available in an 8GB storage variant and supports microSD card for additional storage.
