Luis Suarez has had a change of heart regarding his future and has now decided to stay with Liverpool, claims a Uruguay newspaper that quotes the striker.

The controversial Uruguay international hit the headlines once again recently, following his public outburst to force through a move away from the Reds to their domestic rivals Arsenal. The 26-year-old accused the club of breaking promises and also breaching a release-clause agreement in his contract.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers and owner John W Henry were furious with Suarez's accusations and ordered the striker to train alone until he apologises to the Merseyside outfit and their supporters. However, they remained adamant the club would not allow the player to leave this summer and was confident he would eventually accept their stance.

Recent reports suggested Suarez would not apologise and would continue to push for a transfer. However, the forward - who is currently away on international duty - has now told El Observador that the love of Liverpool supporters has convinced him to commit his immediate future to the Reds.

"For now, because of all the affection of the people, I will be staying," Suarez was quoted as saying.

Latin American journalist Martin Charquero - of GolTV LatinoAmerica - has also stated the player has personally told him that he is willing to sort out his issues at Anfield and even sign an extension.

"Luis Suarez confirmed to me that he will not leave Liverpool. The support of the fans in recent weeks has influenced his decision. It's likely that he'll even sign a renewal (extension) to the contract that binds him to Liverpool," Charquero tweeted.

Meanwhile, Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard insists Suarez will not be sold to Arsenal in any case.

The Gunners have had two club record bids - including the now-infamous £40m plus £1 offer - knocked back by the Reds last month. Arsene Wenger is now reportedly readying a final approach, understood to be around £50m, but Gerrard feels they are only wasting their time as Liverpool will not sell.

"If I can use my influence to make him stay I will. I love playing with him and I don't want him to go. For Liverpool to be successful and move forward we have to keep our best players. I don't know what will happen in the next two weeks," Gerrard said. 'But I'm really confident he won't move to anyone else in England," the England skipper stressed.
