Ian Ayre says that more transfers will be happening in the coming weeks for Liverpool.

Ian Ayre has confirmed that Liverpool will continue to bring in players throughout the summer as the club confirmed a £75m injection from the sale of Luis Suarez to Barcelona.

The Reds said goodbye to their best striker at the end of last week as he begins to serve a four month ban from all football-related activities. Speculation has been rife over how they will spend the money with a big hole left in the attacking line-up to replace.

But Ayre has moved to reassure fans over how the money will be distributed, insisting that more transfers will take place in the coming months as Liverpool look to better their last campaign.

"It's all about building and progress," he told Liverpool Echo. "We'll aim to continue that throughout the summer.

"We've obviously sold Luis, but we've had a busy few weeks with players arriving as well."

Liverpool have so far signed four players this summer, with Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana joining from Southampton while Kevin Stewart made a free transfer from Tottenham and Emre Can confirmed a £8m move from Bayer Leverkusen.

This was all before Liverpool knew that Suarez would no longer be part of the squad, and now they will no doubt look to big names in the hopes of replacing his enviable record at the club, in which he won the 2013-14 Golden Boot despite being banned for the first six games.

The Echo is also claiming that Markovic has arrived at Anfield for a medical, with Dejan Lovren and Divock Origi also high on Brendan Rodgers' wishlist for the coming weeks.
