Like every other major blockbuster on the horizon, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is having a hard time keeping a lid on leaks.

This latest one relates to the alleged death of a character (don't worry it's not a huge character played by a big name) that potentially hints at a future storyline for Warner Bros to pursue in its DC Comics film series.

WARNING: Big spoilers follow, you have been warned...

Superman Homepage reports that a paid extra (who wished to remain anonymous for legal reasons) told it about a particular scene involving a "parade" in Washington DC.

"The parade, we were told, was the funeral for the President of the United States," said the extra. Sounds like more of a funeral procession to us. Parade sounds celebratory.

The President's death has potential to set off one of the more memorable comic book storylines involving the career development of Superman's nemesis Lex Luthor – played in Dawn of Justice by Jesse Eisenberg.

That career development takes Luthor from the founder and CEO of LexCorp to, yep, President of the United States.

It seems a stretch that the character only being introduced in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel follow-up would be President by the time the credits roll, but the death of the story's current Commander in Chief does open up the possibility of it happening further down the line.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Laurence Fishburne, Holly Hunter and Diane Lane. It will be released on 25 March 2016.
