BLOCKCHAIN REVOLUTION How the Technology Behind Bitcoin Is Changing Money, Business, and the World, a new book on the subject by Don Tapscott and Alex Tapscott goes on sale next month (10 May).

Don Tapscott is the author of 15 books about the digital revolution in business and society, dating back to 1981, and Chancellor of Trent University. Alex Tapscott is the CEO of North West Passage Ventures, an advisory firm building early stage companies in the blockchain space.

According to Don Tapscott, bestselling author of Wikinomics, and blockchain expert, Alex Tapscott, there is one form of technology that will have a greater impact on the world economy than self-driving cars, solar energy, or even artificial intelligence. It's called the blockchain.

Blockchain technology is a simple protocol that bypasses intermediaries and allows for anonymous and secure transactions that are permanently recorded on a public ledger. So why should you care about this? Blockchain is not only the technology that powers bitcoin, but it is a protocol that holds the power to reshape the world of business and transform the old order of human affairs for the better, said a statement announcing the book's release.

In the book, the Tapscotts outline dozens of stories about blockchain initiatives that are creating a more prosperous world, and provide a preview of how this groundbreaking technology will dramatically shape our world far into the future. Beyond the rewiring of the financial system, the book looks at how blockchains will encourage entrepreneurship by creating new businesses and the mean to raise funds, as well as help artists and musicians to be fairly compensated. The book will also consider ways this technology can "pre-distribute" wealth by democratising the way it's created in the first place.

Clay Christensen, author of The Innovator's Dilemma, said: "The Tapscotts have written the book, literally, on how to survive and thrive in this next wave of technology-driven disruption. Likely to become one of the iconic books of our time."
