Federer sealed a place in the semi-finals of the BNP Paribas Open after registering a victory over Kevin Anderson in the last eight of the competition on Thursday. The former World No 1 won the tie comfortably in straight sets, 7-5, 6-1.
The Swiss tennis ace has won the tournament four times in his career, the last win coming in 2012. After making it to the last four of the event Federer would be hoping for a win over the 25-year-old to progress into the final on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Dolgopolov made it to the last four of the BNP Paribas Open by defeating Milos Raonic in the quarter-final. The Ukrainian also had a comfortable fixture as he won the tie in straight sets 6-3, 6-4.
Dolgopolov has already registered a win over the reigning champion of the BNP Paribas Open, Rafael Nadal, in the earlier round. He would be looking for a win over the Swiss ace to make it to the finals of the competition on Sunday.
Federer faced Dolgopolov only once in his career and registered a win against the Ukrainian.
