Santi Cazorla believes new summer acquisitions will make Gunners competitive            Reuters Reuters

Santi Cazorla hopes Arsenal will make some marque signings in the summer to be able to compete with both Manchester City and Chelsea for the Premier League title next season.

Having signed Mesut Ozil last summer for a record £42.5m, Arsene Wenger is expected to break the bank again to add a top striker to his squad.

While reports in Spain recently claimed that Arsenal had already completed the signing of former gunner Carlos Vela, Cazorla hopes further additions will bolster the squad in the summer.

"When Cesc (Fabregas) was here he used to tell me that Arsenal were a great club, who had everything, but lacked a bit of something to win titles. I hope to change that by winning the FA Cup and next year I am confident on having a good team to be closer to Manchester City and Chelsea. I wish some top player come to increase the competitive and improve the chances of winning titles. I trust in the club decisions," Cazorla told Marca.

Asked why their title challenge evaporated, he said: "We missed being more consistent and we have had key players injured."

"The balance of the season is a bit contradictory. We were on the top of the Premier League during a while and we had hopes to fight for the title. However, we had major injuries and the team dropped in key moments. Now we have the FA Cup final and after nine years without silverware we hope to give a gift to the fans."

Arsenal will have a big chance to put an end to nine years of trophy drought by beating Hull in the FA Cup final.

"Everybody assumes Arsenal are going to win but in just one game anything can happen. We know that if we play a good game and at our level we will have many chances to win the title. But we are not confident because, otherwise, we would pay it dearly. We have to deal with the pressure, the fans are supporting us and they eager to celebrate a title."
