Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed Diego Costa and Andre Schurrle are "totally recovered" in time for the Premier League home game against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday 22 November – but Cesc Fabregas and Obi Mikel remain doubtful.

Costa and Fabregas have missed both of Spain's games against Belarus and Germany even though they played in the 2-1 victory over Liverpool just before the international break, with many in Spain questioning their lack of commitment to the national team.

Mourinho refused to comment on the matter but eventually revealed the striker is fit to play and that he also hopes to have Fabregas available as well.

"Diego Costa is totally recovered. Fabregas trained with the team today but it was a very simple session. We still have to make a decision. I hope he can play (against West Bromwich) because it is a very important game for us."

Speaking about Costa's injury concerns, he added: "Now we are going to have a period that is new for him. The Christmas period, for those who do it for the first time in their careers, is more difficult. English players are mentally prepared to cope with the marathon.

"He [Diego] had a bit of a holiday but even in that period he spent many hours working with our physio. At this moment we feel he is free of his old injury."

Meanwhile the manager also confirmed Schurrle is ready to play even though he was withdrawn from the Germany squad to play Spain and Gibraltar.

The manager still has to assess whether Mikel are fit to play after the midfielder only returned from international duty this morning.

Mourinho confirmed Nathan Ake will be out of action for two weeks with a hamstring injury while Ramires can play but is not 100% fit after playing with an injury in the win against Liverpool.
