Chelsea youngster Charly Musonda urged to leave on loan

Chelsea youngster Charly Musonda should leave the club on loan during the summer transfer window in order to enhance his first team experience, according to the player's father.

Musonda has never made a professional appearance for the Blues but helped the club's academy sides claim the Uefa Youth League and FA Youth Cup titles last season.

The 18-year-old has himself stated his desire to join Marseille amid confirmation of a relationship between the French giants and Chelsea, however the player's father says Monaco are the latest club interested.

"He must absolutely leave Chelsea and, since January, Monaco have been trying to sign him. Monaco are not alone but they truly want him," Charly Musonda senior told La Dernière Heure.

"He's not had a specific discussion with Jose Mourinho yet, but he's trained regularly with the first team. He often watches his friend Eden Hazard. He plays an important role for Charly with his advice. My son does not want to copy his style but develop his own.

"Chelsea don't want him [to go back to Belgium]. They want Charly to play in a good team in a big league.

"He must play for a first team. He progresses every day but he must develop further. Technically, he's always been good but he still has much work to do on a physical and mental level. He's paying attention to this aspect of football."

Musonda is among a cluster of young Chelsea players hoping to earn regular first-team opportunities under Jose Mourinho, however the club's trend of signing big name players in the transfer window continues to represent a significant obstacle.

Scout Johan Boskamp has compared the player with Spanish pair Xavi and Andreas Iniesta, while during his trophy-laden spell in the Chelsea Under-21 side he has been a key figure in their success.

Didier Drogba has become the first player to leave Stamford Bridge following the end of the season and should the club repeat their tactics from last term then a large portion of their young players to depart on loan.
