Spot the Difference: Hot Mother Weibo

A competition to find China's "hottest mum" has left social media users scratching their heads in confusion after they struggled to tell the difference between mothers and daughters.

Weibo, China's answer to Facebook, launched its search to find the sexiest mother in the country by encouraging users to upload images for the chance to win the coveted title.

Images show mothers in "natural shots" posing with their daughters, playing with their children and even posing for selfies.

However, a few cases have provoked confusion, probably as a result of the heavy filters put on the photos which removed any features associated with aging. In many of the snaps the mother-daughter duos look like sisters.

"Chinese people can be 80 and still look 20," one user said.

Another wrote: "A lot of them in this [set of screenshots] are all fake right? They took other people's photos and said it is their own. And made their ages exceptionally young!!

It is not clear what the prize will be for the winner.
