Cannot find a wife? No problem. Just build a robot and marry it. That is exactly what a Chinese engineer did.

Zheng Jiajia, a 31-year-old artificial intelligence expert who designs and creates robots in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, has created a female robot end 2016, South China Morning Post reported.

The robot, which has been named Yingying, can say simple words, identify Chinese characters and images and even say a few simple words.

According to the news report, Zheng married Yingying in a simple Chinese ceremony on Friday. In the ceremony, the 'bride' wore a black dress and covered her head with a red scarf, in keeping with the traditional wedding ritual, the report added.

The engineer apparently hopes to upgrade his robot wife over the years, and hopefully make her walk and move. Naturally, at some point, he hopes she will also be able to help with the housework.

Zheng graduated from the Zhejiang University in 2011 with a masters in artificial intelligence. He works for Dream Town, a base for internet and tech startups, the newspaper said.

The Qianjiang Evening News said that a friend who attended the 'wedding' said that Zheng decided on marrying the robot because he was tired of being nagged by his family on getting married.

So who attended the 'wedding'? His mother and friends, as well as colleagues were at the ceremony, the report said. And he even carried his 'bride'.
