Football pundit Tony Cascarino believes Manchester City are looking like an unstoppable force in the Premier League title race this season.

The former Republic of Ireland international claims Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has assembled a squad that can now boast the division's best goalkeeper in Joe Hart, the best defender in Vincent Kompany and the finest midfielder in David Silva.

The aforementioned trio were all superb during Manchester City's keenly fought victory over Arsenal on Sunday, and Cascarino cannot envisage any of their nearest rivals overhauling Mancini's side even at this early stage.

Cascarino intimates the vast majority of Manchester City's recent success has been down to their superb 'spine'. Hart has emerged as one of the finest goalkeepers in the world and a mainstay for Mancini and indeed now England, while ahead of him, club captain Vincent Kompany has been a totem of their resolve at the back.

David Silva is widely considered to be the front runner for individual honours at the end of the season and has been the catalyst for Manchester City's impressive rise to the summit of English football. Cascarino suggests Manchester City already look like 'champions'.

"Manchester City look unstoppable at present." Cascarino told The Times. "Much of their success is because of their spine.

"Joe Hart looks the league's best goalkeeper, Vincent Kompany the best defender, David Silva the best midfielder. They look like champions.

Manchester City are currently two points clear of Manchester United, having lost just once in 16 matches.
