The 2013 CMT music awards were held amid high fanfare at the Bridgestone arena on 5 June. The red carpet at Nashville looked a lot like the New York Fashion Week but with a zing of country style added. This year was no different with lots of spring looks, bold colours, platforms, chunky jewellery and lots of denim.

Hosts Jason Aldean and Kristen Bell made the night a memorable one and country music star Taylor Swift's sizzling performance was one of the highlights of the night.

The 23-year-old looked at ease and in the groove all through her performance and particularly so when she sang Red. Swift wore a beautiful Elie Saab dress complete with Jimmy Choo shoes and a Christian Louboutin clutch for a part of the evening. However, she turned out in a country-themed outfit when she took to the stage, wearing a red and black corset dress with black shorts.

Meanwhile, 30-year-old Carrie Underwood was the big winner of the evening. She won Video of the Year for Blown Away and also performed See You Again. The Oklahoma-born singer dedicated the song to victims of the multiple tornadoes that ravaged the US state recently. Underwood recently donated $1m towards relief efforts in the state.
