Designers from South and Central America presented an awe-inspiring collection at the recently concluded Colombiamoda 2013, the 24th edition of Colombia Fashion Show in Colombia.

The fashion show, held in the city of Medellin from 23 to 25 July, saw a plethora of designs and creativity from top designers such as Adriana Sanchez, Manuela Alvarez, Francesca Miranda and Silvia Tcherassi.

World's renowned designer Francesca Miranda opened the show with her collection that was inspired by the ethnicity of Colombia. The El Salvador-born designer made perfect combination of colour, fabrics and silhouettes to represent the same. She even ensured that styling of the models' hair and their makeup complemented the theme of her collection.

"The color palette chosen by Miranda, leaving the beige basis, and giving color accents in emerald green, light blue, brown and some white and black, were the driving force of a collection that also showed some pieces in gold, silver and ocher," an official release read.

Colombia has become a major fashion centre in Latin America and Colombiamoda fashion show has had its fair share of contribution.

"Year after year, Colombiamoda surpasses its own standards of creativity and design," Colombian president Juan Manuel Santos Calderón said during the opening ceremony of the fashion show, adding, "The national economy would be stronger if they were all like the fashion industry, which is innovative and represents 12% of industrial GDP."

Other collections showcased at the fashion show were those from swimwear and apparel brands Agua Bendita and Pasarela Babalu as well as from lingerie brand Leonisa.
