Sir Bradley Wiggins

Sir Bradley Wiggins' return to the track couldn't inspire England to team pursuit gold at the Commonwealth Games as reigning champions Australia retained their title at the Sir Chris Hoy velodrome.

The Aussie quarter led by Jack Bobridge led from the outset and despite a late revival from the England team of Ed Clancy, Steven Burke, Andy Tennant and Wiggins they clung on to gold.

The silver for Wiggins comes in a year in which he was dumped by Team Sky for the Tour de France over Chris Froome, but the medal nevertheless begins his campaign to claim a fifth Olympic gold at Rio 2016
