A Muslim covert has been jailed for eight weeks for posting "vile" and "misogynist" threats aimed at a Tory MP over social media site Facebook. Craig Wallace, 23, published the messages days after Charlotte Leslie backed David Cameron's proposal to launch UK air strikes on Islamic State (Isis) targets in Syria.

Wallace, who converted to Islam while serving a sentence for armed robbery and now calls himself Muhammad Mujahid Islam, pleaded guilty to posting the threats on The UK Truth Movement page, the Press Association reported.

He wrote: "I'm going to smash her windows and drop a bomb on her house when she is tucked up in bed, you dirty f*****g pig shagging sl*t."

Another message read: "I'm going into find her and show her what it's like to murder innocents, you dirty pig f*****g whore." The communications were reportedly spotted by the Bristol North MP's father, who then reported Wallace to the police.

Judge Mark Jabbit, speaking at Willesden Magistrates Court, said: "You pleaded guilty on the first occasion. You personalised a very, very, very serious debate by using vile, and I would say misogynistic language towards a sitting MP in a public forum, which no doubt caused distress."

Janaka Siriwardena, defending, explained that Wallace, of north London, had written a letter of apology to Leslie over the posts. "Clearly what Mr Wallace did was despicable and went far beyond any form of legitimate protest, and he is deeply sorry for what has happened," he added.

"He was involved and he felt he needed to protest against what he thought was something he disagreed with. He is deeply sorry about that, and what he does want to mention is that he acknowledges he does have issues with controlling his emotions."
