Armed raiders held up a shop in Manchester dressed in full CSI: Crime Scene Investigation forensic costumes and escaped with cash and alcohol.

A pair of robbers donned disguises lifted straight from the hit US TV drama to raid the Best One off licence in Chadderton. Instead of deciphering a crime as the TV team does every week in the hugely popular CBS series, they created one.

Dressed in white forensic suits, gloves and masks to conceal their identities and armed with an axe, the pair threatened shop staff and and seized four cans of Magner's cider and cash from the till, before fleeing the scene in their highly conspicuous outfits.

DC Ian Lloyd said: "A man has been confronted by axe-wielding robbers who have used the threat of violence to steal cash and alcohol from someone simply trying to do their job.

"The outfits they were wearing will most certainly make them stand out so if you saw them in the general area at the time of the robbery or know who they are please call us."

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
