It was one of the biggest nights of Beyoncé's career and it seems that the singer may have gone to great measures to ensure her appearance at the 2014 MTV VMAs was drama-free.

The Drunk in Love hitmaker, who took home the coveted Michael Jackson Vanguard award, choose to share the special moment with her husband and daughter, leaving her sister Solange Knowles out in the cold.

Jay Z proudly presented the accolade to his wife describing her as the "Greatest living entertainer" while an excited Blue Ivy clapped and exclaimed "Yah mummy!"

In a short acceptance speech, an emotional Queen B thanked her fans and her 'beloved' as she kissed and cuddled the rapper on stage.

"I have nothing to say," she said. "But I'm full of gratitude.

"I just want to thank God for this moment. I love y'all so much. Blue I love you. My beloved I love you. My fans I love you."

As Beyoncé celebrated yet another milestone, Solange Knowles walked the red carpet alone in an embellished black suit and reportedly left the event early after staying low-key as the gongs were handed out.

If the singer deliberately distanced herself from her younger sibling, it may have been on the advice of her PR team.

The last time all three family members attended an industry event together was the MET Gala in May. Footage later emerged of Solange attacking her brother-in-law in a lift at the Standard Hotel.

Ever since, the power couple's 'perfect' marriage has been put under the microscope and they have been dogged by divorce rumours.

Although the pair has refused to address the mounting speculation, Beyonce's mother recently slammed the rumours, insisting that her daughter and son-in-law were 'perfect'.

"Haters are going to hate, there's nothing we can about that. Everything's perfect", she told TMZ.
