Here we go...

They are nearly ready to get on with it, promise.

Jesse Lingard's sensational late strike saw Manchester United win the famous old trophy for the the 12th time at the expense of Crystal Palace last season. Louis van Gaal didn't have long to celebrate it, mind, within hours reports were already emerging he was to be replaced by Jose Mourinho.

There are still one or two fixtures to be resolved before the third round gets underway in January and there are a few non-League sides hoping to still be apart of things when that weekend rolls around.

In addition to Sutton United and Barrow, Macclesfield Town are hoping to continue their FA Cup journey if they can beat Oxford United in their second round replay. Stourbridge's meeting with Northampton Town was postponed this weekend, while Lincoln City are hoping to upset Oldham Athletic later tonight. Non-league duo Eastleigh and FC Halifax Town will also meet in a second round replay.

One name that won't be in the hat for tonight's draw is Curzon Ashton. The National League North side stormed into a 3-0 lead against AFC Wimbledon until the League One side staged a pretty heroic comeback, scoring four times in the final 11 minutes on Sunday.

One of the most exciting dates of the football calendar is upon us. The FA Cup gets serious with the third round draw taking place tonight, with all 44 clubs from the Premier League and Football League joining the party. We still have the prospect of one or two 'David vs Goliath' encounters too, despite many of the non-league sides falling by the wayside.

Sutton United are among the sides looking for another giant killing having seen off League Two's Cheltenham Town, while Barrow will be hoping for the chance to upset someone else having already eliminated Bristol Rovers in what was the biggest upset of the second round.
