All 11 people on board a hot air balloon were killed when it caught fire after hitting power lines near Carterton, New Zealand, on Saturday. Two were believed killed after they jumped from the balloon basket to escape the fire.

All the 11, including the pilot, were from the Wellington area.

According to the eyewitnesses, flames as high as 32 ft (10 m) leaped from the balloon as it crashed in the farmland, Sky News reported.
