Fox News Twitter Hacked: Secret Service to investigate. Twitter

The U.S. Secret Service is reportedly investigating the recent hack on Fox News' Twitter account that allowed hackers to post a series of fake tweets reporting President Barack Obama as dead.

The initial hack happened at 2.00am PST. During it six tweets were posted falsely reporting President Obama as dead.

"@BarackObama has just passed. The President is dead. A sad 4th of July, indeed. President Barack Obama is dead".

Followed by, "@BarackObama has just passed. Nearly 45 minutes ago, he was shot twice in the lower pelvic area and in the neck; shooter unknown. Bled out".

Later ending with, "We wish @joebiden the best of luck as our new President of the United States. In such a time of madness, there's light at the end of tunnel".

Since the attack occurred Fox News representatives went on to call the tweets "malicious" and "false". Fox News Digital vice-president and general manager Jeff Misenti later added, "We will be requesting a detailed investigation from Twitter about how this occurred, and measures to prevent future unauthorised access into FoxNews.com accounts,"

In response to the attack the American Secret Service -- which is charged with protecting the President -- clarified to the press that it would be conducting an investigation. "The Secret Service is investigating the matter and will conduct the appropriate follow-up," commented spokesman George Ogilvie.

The news comes just as the new-kids-on-the-block hacking group Script Kiddies claimed responsibility for the attack, citing it as a part of Anonymous ongoing Operation Anti-Security.
