Rising heavyweight star Francis Ngannou has revealed that he was not impressed by the performance of current champion Stipe Miocic at UFC 211.
Miocic (19-2 record in MMA) successfully defended his title against Junior Dos Santos, winning via first-round TKO as he equalled the record for most heavyweight title defences at just two.
With five knockout wins in a row now, Miocic staked his claim as one of the best heavyweights in UFC history, however, Ngannou (10-1 record in MMA) says he needs more than that to be impressed.
"It was a good performance, but I was not impressed. I think I need more than that. I am not impressed with him [Miocic]," Ngannou told The MMA Hour. "I am impressed with someone like [Cain] Velasquez. I think he is the best heavyweight we have, and that's why I want to fight him."
"The Predator" debuted in the UFC in December 2015 and has finished all five of his opponents since, with his latest victory coming in January 2017 against former heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski.
While some may feel he needs to have a few more fights under his belt, Ngannou is not opposed to fighting Miocic for the title straight away. However, he has no qualms about taking on former two-time champion Velasquez (14-2 record in MMA) before a title shot.
"Yes, that's true, you got it," the 30-year-old added. "That is one of the reasons I moved to Vegas, because right now I am ready for all challenges. I am No. 5 ranked. I will fight everyone right now. I already called out Velasquez, but he says he's injured. But, I would like to fight him and then get a title shot."
