Stipe Miocic equalled the record for most heavyweight title defences (2) after defeating Junior Dos Santos at UFC 211 on Saturday (13 May).

In what was a rematch of their December 2014 fight where Dos Santos emerged victorious via unanimous decision, Miocic (19-2 record in MMA) was able to take revenge on the Brazilian after a quick first-round TKO win to retain his title.

Following the fight, Miocic maintained that he was the best fighter in the world, especially after "JDS" was talking about how he was the toughest man on the planet, even going on to claim he would challenge boxing heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.

"I'm the best," Miocic said. "I'm the best in the world."

Women's strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk also made sure that no titles were changing hands on the night in Dallas, Texas, as she defeated Jessica Andrade via unanimous decision (50-45, 50-44, 50-45).

Despite a spirited and fearless performance from the Brazilian, it still was not enough to stop the Polish champion's run from continuing as with five title defences, Jedrzejczyk (14-0 record in MMA) is one win away from equalling Ronda Rousey's record of six title defences.

"No one is taking this belt from me," she said. "No one. Nobody. Jessica is such a tough opponent. She drops from 135, she's doing very well in 115, she's tough."

Elsewhere, Demian Maia defeated Jorge Masvidal via split decision to earn a shot at Tyron Woodley's welterweight title.

In what was his seventh victory in a row, the Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist claimed he got verbal confirmation from UFC president Dana White after the fight that he would be next in line after a year of waiting.
