Galaxy Note 3 Running Android 5.0 Lollipop Gets Previewed in Video
Galaxy S2 I9100 and Note N7000 Finally Taste Android 5.0 Lollipop via XDA’s Custom ROMs Android Soul

Galaxy S2 I9100 and Note N7000 users are in for a big surprise, as the industrious Android custom ROM developers have stepped up to the occasion with the release of Android 5.0 Lollipop ROMs for these devices.

Galaxy S2 I9100

The LollipopS2 team has unleashed the CodeRom Lollipop update, which is currently in its beta stage as developers are working hard to create a fully functional Lollipop custom ROM for the ageing Galaxy S2 I9100.

The CodeRom is currently capable of running the boot animation for Android 5.0 Lolliop, but no further than that.

CodeRom has been reportedly ported via AT&T AOSP ROM, which is also in beta development stage, and hence the LollipopS2 team has invited the Android community to help them in compiling the ROM and getting it to the final working state with all apps and UI in place.

Currently, there seems to be some issue with the ROM's stock CM11 kernel that requires debugging and hence those who wish to contribute their resources and knowledge towards further development of this fascinating Lollipop ROM can post their feedback as well as upload files using the XDA forum thread here.

Galaxy Note N7000

In related news, Galaxy Note N7000 users can now enjoy the first ever Android 5.0 Lollipop ROM on their device, with due credit to retired XDA recognised developer, bauner, who has released the pre-alpha version of CyanogenMod 12 (CM12) Android 5.0 ROM for the N7000.

It has been ascertained that several bugs exist in the current ROM, while some features such as mobile network, wireless LAN and Bluetooth are still non-functional.

Besides, the ROM does not include any built-in recovery tool for installation which could further complicate the process of reverting back to older ROMs in case of issues with the new ROM.

The only saving grace is that you can still return to your original ROM by flashing the kernel/recovery or a full ROM via Odin or Heimdall.

In its current state, the CM12 based Lollipop ROM for N7000 has drawn critical acclamation from Android's loyal fans, given its amazing speed and visually appealing interface.

As the ROM appears to be a stripped down version of the OS, it is still unclear what features will be incorporated in the final finished product.
