A new chapter of Alicia Florrick's life is to begin after a shocking decision she would make in the finale of The Good Wife Season 5, A Weird Year.

The final episode of the CBS legal drama is sure to be a cliffhanger for the audience, claims show creator Robert King.

"It's not a cliffhanger in that, 'Oh, which way is Alicia going to choose?' Executive Producer Robert King told TVLine. "It's more a cliffhanger in that, 'Oh, NOW what does that mean? That's an interesting decision.' It's a cliffhanger of a new chapter opening in Alicia's life."

Entertainment website Entraz suspects that the shocker in the final episode will be a possible betrayal by Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski), who is pushing Alicia for a merger of Lockhart/Gardner and Florrick/Agos. The website also thinks that Diane is just the tip of a bigger conspiracy planned by Louis Canning (Michael J Fox).

"There's some tensions, I mean some sh-- went down when she was in bed for a couple of days after Will's death, and he sort of...there's some big fights about to happen that you'll see...I think Alicia realizes that she might have made a mistake. Let's just say that," Julianna Margulies explains in Eonline about Alicia's big decision.

Season 5 of the courtroom drama shocked fans with the sudden death of Will Gardner but executive producer King claims that the series will remain very much alive with the election-rigging plot.

"Never say never, but at least for this season, Will's death got Peter off the hook, which is playing into some of Alicia's angst about Peter," King explained. "But that doesn't mean (it won't) come back, because things tend to- especially for the Governor of Illinois."

Will's death also created a void in the life of Alicia, who is already struggling in a bitter marriage, and fans suspected Finn Polmar to play her love interest in the rest of the series. But CBS cleared the air and announced that Alicia (Julianna Marguiles) would indeed fall in love again, but with the show's latest entry, Daniel Irwin (Nestor Carbonnell), TVGuide reported.

The official synopsis of The Good Wife Season 5 Finale reads:

"An open feed from a camera mistakenly left on after a teleconferenced deposition between the lawyers of Florrick/Agos and Lockhart/Gardner reveals a threat to the firm that Alicia and Cary never saw coming. Meanwhile, the fate of Lockhart/Gardner hangs in the balance as Louis Canning views for a larger role. Also, Alicia entrusts Zach's high school graduation party to Jackie and Veronica, on the fifth season finale of The Good Wife."

The Good Wife Season 5 finale will air on Sunday, 18 May, at 9pm on the CBS Television Network.
