Overview

The Tallawahs, particularly superstar Chris Gayle, in their last game gave a warning to the other participating teams about what to expect, as the skipper smashed an unbeaten 54-ball 108 to take his team home with seven wickets to spare.

Set to chase 192 against defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders, Gayle showed just why he is the most destructive batsman in the world, hitting 11 huge sixes and thrashing the bowlers to all parts of Queens Park Oval.

The win means that the Tallawahs are now unbeaten in the tournament. They have won both their games and are on top of the points table with four from two games. Gayle, and to an extent Andre Russell aside, the rest of the players of the Jamaican outfit are yet to fire. Their overseas recruits Kumar Sangakkara, Dale Steyn and Shakib Al Hasan have not contributed much. The Tallawahs are expected to go in with the same line-up that beat Trinbago on 4 July.

The Warriors too come into this clash on the back of a six-wicket win against Trinbago Knight Riders on 6 July. They, like Jamaica, have won both their matches and are unbeaten and the only reason they are in the second place on the points table is due to their lower net run rate.

Guyana have one of the most well-balanced line-ups in the 2016 CPL with both the batting and bowling looking good. What has worked in their favour is that their big hitters like Dwayne Smith, Chris Lynn and Jason Mohammad have found form early which has relieved the pressure on Martin Guptill and given them some sort of momentum.

Their bowlers have shown why they are rated so highly. Both Sohail Tanvir and Adam Zampa have come up with important contributions at crucial moments.
