"Harry Potter" star Jamie Waylett, who played the Hogwarts bully Vincent Crabbe, has been charged for possessing a petrol bomb during the London riots.

Waylett, 22, is also accused of growing cannabis in his bedroom. He was arrested on 20 September following rioting in the capital in August.

Waylett is accused of violent disorder during clashes in Chalk Farm, north London, and is also charged with handling stolen goods.

"He was charged with violent disorder, having an article with intent to destroy or damage property, receiving stolen goods and also cultivating cannabis plants," a Metropolitan police spokesperson said.

Police allegedly seized 15 cannabis plants from his bedroom during a police raid of his house. The maximum sentence for the cannabis charge alone is 14 years.

Waylett appeared in the six of the Harry Potter films, but his character was written out of the final Deathly Hallows film. He was released on bail with a 7pm to 7am curfew. He will appear in court again next month.
