In a video released to mark Holocaust Memorial Day, London-based Auschwitz survivors Lily Ebert and Zigi Shipper tell of the horrors they endured whilst at the Nazi death camp, and why they are not filled with hatred but hold hope for the future.

On 27 January 2015, thousands of people at events across the country will remember and honour the millions killed in the Holocaust and in subsequent genocides. In central London senior politicians, dignitaries and religious leaders will join survivors for a national commemorative event exactly 70 years after the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau.

Seventy candles designed by sculptor Sir Anish Kapoor to mark the occasion will be lit at the commemorations in London, around the country and at Auschwitz. The Holocaust Memorial Day Trust, established by Government to promote and support Holocaust Memorial Day, expects there to be over 2,400 events across the UK at community centres, schools, libraries, museums, arts venues, prisons, railway stations and places of worship.
