How to downgrade iOS 8.3 to iOS 8.2.. YouTube

In the new iOS 8.3 software, Apple has patched a total of 39 security flaws including the one concerning (CVE-2015-1087) TaiG jailbreak, the developer team which had rubbished all rumours about an iOS 8.2 jailbreak release.

The team had suggested in their public announcement in December last year that they would update jailbreak support for iOS 8.2, once Apple made the update public.

If you are looking forward to any jailbreak development in the near future and wish to revert to the older iOS version, below is our downgrade guide (courtesy of RedmondPie).

Currently, there is jailkbreak neither for iOS 8.3 nor for iOS 8.2. But if you are on an even older version such as iOS 8.1.2, you can use the unterthered jailbreak tool from the TaiG team.

The downgrade supports the following list of Apple devices running iOS 8.3 firmware.

  • iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5, iPhone 4S
  • iPad 4, iPad 3, iPad 2, iPad Air 2, iPad Air
  • iPad mini 3, iPad mini 2, iPad mini with retina display
  • iPod touch 5G

Steps to downgrade from iOS 8. 3 to iOS 8.2

Step-1: Before downgrading your IPSW firmware, create a backup of all data like your photos and other stuff to iCloud or, locally to your PC. The full backup option is available in iTunes and iCloud will not work if you restore a backup made on iOS 8.3 for an older version like iOS 8.2

Step-2: Download iOS 8.2 IPSW for your iOS device. Ensure that you download the correct IPSW firmware according to the model number of your device. Installing incorrect firmware could damage the iOS device. Downloading the firmware will take some time

Step-3: Launch iTunes, head over to the device's Summery page

Step-4: Hold the Option/ Alt button on Mac keyboard, Shift key if you are on Windows then click the Restore iPhone button

Step-5: You should now see a prompt to browse and select the iOS 8.2 IPSW file you downloaded

Step-6: Select and open the file, which should begin downgrading or, restoring to iOS 8.2 process.

The process should take not take more than a couple of minutes. Meanwhile, just sit back and watch iTunes playing the majic for you.
