Joe Allen's 90th-minute equaliser denied Arsenal all three points against Liverpool in a six-goal thriller at Anfield. Roberto Firmino struck a brace in the first half as Jurgen Klopp's side twice took the lead, only for Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud to wipe out their advantage.

Giroud scored his second of the game 10 minutes into the second half after a brilliant turn and finish but Allen levelled the contest with minutes remaining having come off the bench, volleying Christian Benteke's knockdown past Petr Cech.

Arsenal missed the chance to move clear at the summit of the Premier League with Leicester City claiming all three points after a hard-fought win against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane. In the second meeting between these two sides in four days, goalkeepers Hugo Lloris and Kasper Schmeichel each produced some wonderful saves to keep the game scoreless.

The Foxes found a breakthrough with seven minutes of the game remaining, however, when an unmarked Robert Huth looped a header over the Spurs defence and into the top corner from a corner. That win saw Leicester move level on 43 points with Arsenal, three clear of Manchester City who missed the chance to close the gap after being held to a goalless draw by Everton. Roberto Martinez's side have been much criticised for their defensive lapses this season but the Toffees provided a resolute performance at the Etihad Stadium, with goalkeeper Tim Howard producing some fine saves to deny Manuel Pellegrini's frustrated side.

Chelsea remain in 14th place after an ill-tempered clash with West Brom ended in an entertaining draw. Leading with four minutes remaining, Guus Hiddink's side were undone when they failed to clear a ball into the box with James McClean firing home from close range.

Jermain Defoe scored a hat-trick as Sunderland secured a hugely valuable victory over relegation rivals Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium. The win moves Sam Alalrdyce's side to within a point of climbing out the relegation zone just behind tonight's opponents.

Southampton claimed their first win in five games after goals from Shane Long and Dusan Tadic secured a win over Watford at St Mary's, while Stoke City moved up to seventh – just two points behind Manchester United – after Joselu and a Ryan Bennett own goal saw off a 10-man Norwich in the second half.
