Joey Feek breathed her last on 4 March. The 40-year-old country singer died after a prolonged battle with terminal cancer. Her husband Rory Feek announced the heartbreaking news on his official blog site and revealed that his beloved wife was free from the pain and "is in Heaven".

"At 2:30 this afternoon, as we were gathered around her, holding hands and praying, my precious bride breathed her last. And a moment later took her first breath on the other side," Rory wrote on This Life I live.

"As I held her hand and kissed her goodbye one last time... I was reminded of another dream of hers that came true. A few months ago through gracious help of Kathy Olen, a friend of ours in Nashville, and many others... I had been sent a short video that Dolly Parton had made for Joey."

In the emotional blog, Rory shared a video where the ailing singer was surprised to receive a video message from Parton.

"Joey and Rory, I've loved you for years. I've had all your records and Joey, I just wanted you to know that I really appreciate the fact that you've often done my songs, talked about me at different times and I've heard that you're a big fan," Parton, the American singer-songwriter, told Joey in the video.

The touching moments captured between the couple in the video have warmed many of their fans' hearts.

"There has been, a time of many tears of sorrow, it has also been a time of countless tears of joy. There have been too many beautiful moments to count or even begin to share in this blog. But I try," Rory wrote in the blog titled A Dream Come True.

The father-of-three agreed that he was relieved that his wife was free from the pain she was suffering. Rory will now return to their home in Tennessee along with his two daughters from a previous relationship and Indiana, his two-year-old daughter with Joey.

"After four-and-a-half months in Indiana, we will soon be back home in Tennessee. Me, and our little one, with our older daughters. It's hard for me to imagine being there without Joey, but at the same time... it is where she wants us to be."
