Katy Perry's new single might be her sweetest yet judging by the latest teasers. Fans were sent into a frenzy after the Chained To The Rhythm singer tweeted a recipe for the "world's best cherry pie" with what appears to be hidden lyrics.

Along with the caption, "Bake me a pie and you may get a surprise", Perry gives a step-by-side on how to bake the perfect treat from crafting the "delicious" golden crust to the juicy filling. It also appears as though Perry has subtly included lyrics from her new single, rumoured to be titled Bon Appetit, with lines such as: "This pie is gonna hit that sweet tooth, boy," "Calm those hungry eyes," and "Bon appetit, baby!"

The recipe has sparked a new social media challenge with fans sending photos of their freshly baked pies. Clearly proud of the contest, Perry, 32, has spent time retweeting and judging many of the entries while chastising some for either using Photoshop or fake photos.

Bon Appetit will be the second single lifted off Perry's anticipated second album and Billboard reports it may be a collaboration with Ariana Grande.

As an early preview, Perry is believed to have shared a snippet of Bon Appetit on Pi Day (14 March), with the song blaring out in a recording studio. The anticipated track will follow on from Perry's latest single Chained To The Rhythm, which peaked at number five in the UK in March.

Whereas Chained To The Rhythm toyed with disco-pop, rumours are rife that Bon Appetit will see a return to Perry's bubblegum era when she ruled the charts with songs like California Gurls, Teenage Dream and Firework. Perry has kept details of her long-awaited fourth studio album close to her chest but previously hinted it could be a while before fans receive the finished record.

Speaking to Capital FM in February, the Dark Horse singer explained: "I've got something swirling, but, you know, I think I want to put out some songs first before I give them the full meal. I think we are digesting things in bite size these days and that's what we can handle."
